Orioles reunite with former first-round pick
The Orioles announced that they have re-acquired infielder Tyler Nevin in a trade with the Tigers.
Baltimore is sending cash to Detroit, which designated the right-hander on the move last week.
The O’s currently have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
Nevin returns to Baltimore for the first time in his year.
During the 2022-23 offseason, the Orioles selected Nevin and traded him to the Tigers for cash.
The 26-year-old spent the year on Detroit’s 40-man roster, but worked primarily in Triple-A.
He excelled in the minors, hitting .

This gave Nevin more than 1,000 at-bats in the major leagues, with a batting line of .

He hasn’t had the same success with a detached look against MLB pitchers.
He appeared in 105 major league games over the past three seasons, hitting .

Nevin played in 64 games with the Orioles and 41 games as a Tiger during the 2021-22 season.
The O’s know the former Rockies draft pick.
With two openings on the 40-man roster, they could bring him back at minimal cost.
Nevin doesn’t have any minor league options, so he’ll have to break camp with an MLB team if the O’s don’t want to cut him again.
That might be a tough task for a team with deep infield depth, but it wouldn’t hurt much for Baltimore to use him in spring training.
