Cowboys Legend Speaks Out On Team Keeping Mike McCarthy

Dallas Cowboys legendary quarterback and Hall of Famer Troy Aikman addressed several topics at Tuesday’s event, including the future of team owner and general manager Jerry Jones and McCarthy’s That included retaining Mike McCarthy as head coach despite a 1-2 postseason record.
Aikman is worried that McCarthy and current Dallas starting quarterback Dak Prescott will return for another season, even though Prescott has a 2-5 record in seven playoff starts.
He expressed his belief that it “makes the most sense.
” “When you change [the head coach], you’re basically changing for the same reasons you made a change a few years ago when you brought in Mike.
They think it’s him who says, “I’m going to throw you over the edge.
” Just like they felt Mike was the right person to do it.
We won’t know until we get back in January.
” ESPN’s Todd Archer emphasized Wednesday that McCarthy and Prescott’s contracts expire after the 2024 season.
According to recent reports, someone within the Cowboys organization expressed interest in former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, but Belichick did not reciprocate that interest.
Meanwhile, Coach Aikman said Tuesday that his Dallas team, which won the NFC East title with a 12-5 record, had a “really good year” despite losing at home to the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card playoffs.
”, he emphasized.
They won the game on January 14th 48-32.
“The way they played at the end of the year put them in the No.
2 spot, which I thought was good.
” Aikman expressed confidence in McCarthy, but Jerry Jones won the playoffs next January.
It is widely believed that they will not tolerate another loss in the finals.
In fact, anything other than the Cowboys playing in his 2025 NFC Championship game could jeopardize Mike McCarthy’s position as head coach.
