It’s been said that where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and on Tuesday morning, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson addressed speculation about a possible WrestleMania 40 match with Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
It certainly added fuel to the fire.
The Rock started his day Tuesday by ringing the bell with his new colleagues on the TKO Committee.
An official press release was then issued, in which TKO announced that The Rock would be joining the company’s board of directors.
It was also announced that WWE had transferred ownership of the naming rights to “The Rock” to Johnson, who further explained the move during an appearance on ESPN’s First Take later that morning.

“If it wasn’t for the name ‘The Rock,’ I don’t think I would be a wrestling star or have a career in Hollywood.
” Man, that’s very, very special,” Johnson said of the impact of his wrestling nickname.
On First Take, Johnson also answered questions about his new role on the board, the merger of the XFL and USFL, and this weekend’s AFC Championship Game.
And of course, host and well-known professional wrestling fan Stephen A.
Smith asked if fans would be seeing him in the ring anytime soon.
Johnson could have answered vaguely, but instead he answered as frankly as he could.
Not only did he address the speculation, he responded: “Well, I’ll tell you, if people ask if that game happened before, it probably isn’t happening now.

The Rock described himself as a “long gamer” and said he enjoys building.
And that’s what he did when he unexpectedly showed up on SmackDown a few weeks ago to talk about where he would sit and eat.
He suggested that perhaps I should be at the head of the table.
It’s a table he alludes to again several times on “First Take” when he talks about how his grandfather and father helped set the table.
Of course, the build-up to Roman Reigns vs.
The Rock at WrestleMania 40 has to involve more than just SmackDown and the Raw show, and it looks like it could possibly happen.
How else are Reigns and The Rock supposed to have, in Johnson’s own words, “the biggest, biggest WrestleMania of all time”?

“If me and Roman Reigns were in the main event of WrestleMania, and I want to say with all due respect to every WrestleMania before it, I grew up in this business and I love this business, so They could potentially be in each other’s main events.
” Regarding this, he said, “With this incredible group of artists, this incredible group of men and women, we could potentially have the biggest WrestleMania of all time.
” ” said The Rock.
He was then asked by co-host Molly Kerim, “Are you saying there’s a chance?
” to which he replied, “There is a chance.
” The Rock didn’t go into First Take to set up a wrestling match, but it was clear he wasn’t going to avoid or shy away from the possibility.
Later in the interview, Johnson even mocked the show’s hosts when they suggested he join the game as his own manager.
Of course, this is all just theory, but just looking at the idea seems to suggest that this game, which has been several years in the making, could be closer to reality than ever before.
Roman Reigns vs.
The Rock at WrestleMania 40 is not only literally on the table, it could be an option at the top of the list.
