‘Being completed now’: Romano believes Nottingham Forest will make a’surprising’ striker signing

Nottingham Forest set to sign Rodrigo Ribeiro

Another striker appears to be on his way to the City Ground to help Nuno Espirito Santo bolster his attacking options.

According to , the Reds plan to sign Ribeiro on loan for the balance of the 2023/24 season.

The Sporting Lisbon striker will join Forest, with an option to sign him permanently during the summer transfer window.

 

Forest have been looking for a new striker, with Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi the current alternatives for Espirito Santo.

Awoniyi returned to scoring form yesterday night, earning plaudits from Mikel Arteta.

Romano believes that Forest is currently finalising a deal to sign Ribeiro, who will join Gio Reyna as a new Reds recruit.

Who is Rodrigo Ribeiro?

The 18-year-old came up through Sporting Lisbon’s youth academy programme. With this in mind, it is evident that this is a future-oriented signing.

Forest-linked Ribeiro plays in the midfield and has two goals this season for the young squad.

The teenager has some experience playing men’s football, having made seven appearances for the senior team.

The athlete shined for the Portugal national team as a kid, scoring seven goals in 16 games for the under-19s.

Who Scored demonstrates Ribeiro’s ability to play on either flank in addition to as a centre forward.

Rumour rating: 7.5/10. From a Forest viewpoint, signing Ribeiro appears to be an appealing option.

It’s difficult to imagine a relatively unknown wonderkid unseating Awoniyi or Wood very soon, but the race for places is going to heat up.

This is undoubtedly the type of profile that Forest supporters would like the club to consider when it comes to player recruiting.

However, whether he’s right for a fight against relegation needs to be determined.

This appears to be an intriguing situation, and we hope that the youngster can get off to a good start under Espirito Santo.
