Moyes’ future remains uncertain.
West Ham United broke their eight-match losing streak with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Brentford in a Premier League encounter on Monday. However, the result comes with a proviso, since manager David Moyes’ future is unknown. WRITES MICHAEL TALBOT
Moyes future remains uncertain
Jarrod Bowen’s amazing effort propelled the Hammers to victory, as he scored his first hat-trick in club history. This comeback to form comes at an ideal moment for the forward, who will be looking to secure a spot in England’s forthcoming team.
Furthermore, the return of Lucas Paquetá from injury gave a much-needed spark, bringing creative flair and poise to the midfield, as Moyes recognized.
Despite the victory, Moyes remains under intense pressure due to a spate of recent defeats. These include humiliating defeats to Aston Villa, Liverpool, Fulham, and a 6-0 home thrashing by arch-rivals Arsenal.
To be clear, the triumph was largely powered by individual brilliance, specifically Bowen’s hat-trick, rather than a well-oiled tactical game plan. While appreciating the positive outcome, it does not necessarily represent a dramatic turnaround under Moyes’ leadership.
Unfortunately, this win is “fooling no one,” and the club, in my opinion, needs to embrace a bolder strategy with a more innovative manager at the head.
With the season nearing its conclusion, the win kept West Ham’s European Premier League positioning dreams alive.
However, the Premier League has undergone substantial evolution, and West Ham must adapt to the changes. This adaption opens the door for a more modern and progressive manager for the future season.
Enough complaining; we did earn a much-needed three points!
