West Ham might sign three players if Thomas Tuchel takes over after David Moyes.
Three players. If Thomas Tuchel is chosen manager of West Ham United, he may seek to sign players.
Thomas Tuchel has emerged as a surprise candidate to succeed David Moyes at West Ham United, if the current manager is fired. It comes after Tuchel announced that he will stand down as Bayern Munich manager at the conclusion of the season, after less than a year in command.
Tuchel, of course, has Premier League experience, having managed Chelsea for a year and a half. The German was fired from his position in September 2022, after winning the Champions League with the capital club the year prior.
But if Tuchel makes the surprising move to the London Stadium after his tenure with Bayern, who may the 50-year-old try to bring with him? Express Sport has identified three potential signings for West Ham if Tuchel is granted the job.
Eric Dier
Starting with one of Tuchel’s most recent additions, Eric Dier joined Bayern on a short-term loan from Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window. While the Englishman has played consistently for the Bundesliga club, it’s difficult to imagine the new Bayern manager – whoever that is – wishing to make the move permanent.
Dier’s contract will expire in the summer, making him an attractive signing for Tuchel if he takes the West Ham position. The 30-year-old has extensive Premier League experience, having made over 270 games in England’s top level.
Hayden Hackney
Hayden Hackney could wind up as a Hammer next season, regardless of whether Tuchel takes over, with West Ham reportedly interested in signing the 21-year-old. According to The Sun, Hackney has been identified as an alternative to Kalvin Phillips, who arrived at the London Stadium from Manchester City in January.
Phillips has struggled to impress in claret and blue, picking up a needless red card in West Ham’s recent defeat to Nottingham Forest. Hackney is a composed central midfielder who has attracted the eye of Championship club Middlesbrough this season and is exactly the type of prospect Tuchel might develop.
Hakim Ziyech
Finally, if there are any notable departures at the London Stadium, Tuchel may resort to a player with whom he has previously worked. Hakim Ziyech may have struggled for form throughout his Chelsea stint, but the forward still has a lot of talent and might be a good fit for West Ham.
If Jarrod Bowen departs the club, West Ham may be compelled to sign a wide forward during the summer transfer window. The England international has been linked with a transfer away from West Ham, which might open the door for Ziyech to join from Chelsea after a season-long loan with Galatasaray, if Tuchel succeeds Moyes.
