It also helps that the fifth-year player, who signed a one-year contract with the Bills on Wednesday, has
two Super Bowl triumphs under his belt.
“I know the AFC has been passing through Kansas City for the past few years, but I see it from a
distance, and Buffalo has been one win away,” Edwards remarked during a Zoom conference call. “They
have a fantastic squad and a great quarterback. There’s only a little left. So I feel like I can step in and
support those men with anything they need.”
Safety is one of Buffalo’s top priorities this summer, as the team looks to rebuild after spending the
previous seven seasons with the same starting combo of Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer. Hyde is a free
agent and mulling retirement, while Poyer has signed with AFC East opponent Miami after being
released by Buffalo.
Edwards stated, “Those guys were the standard; they were two of the best safeties in the league.” “Just
attempting to take that on, build upon it, and arrive at work prepared to work and pursue that.”
With Taylor Rapp, who returned for a second season after being re-signed to a three-year contract two
weeks ago, Edwards will have the opportunity to establish a new starting tandem.
