Celtics: Paul Pierce blows the truth bomb on controversial footage that led to ESPN’s termination.
Former Celtics great Paul Pierce discusses being sacked by ESPN.
ESPN removed Paul Pierce from the network in 2021 after he shared a contentious video on social media. Since then, whenever the former Boston Celtics star’s name comes up in conversation, it has become a hot issue. Pierce now reveals the reason behind his decision to share the footage.
Pierce released a tell-all video for the All the Smoke Podcast, and the first topic of conversation was the footage that led to his firing from ESPN. The former Celtics star claimed he had no idea people could capture Instagram Live videos.
“I am enjoying retirement. It’s poker night! I decided to pull out my phone. I was caught up in the moment… I did not post it. [I didn’t realize] you could videotape it.
It was a terrible miscalculation by Paul Pierce. Not everyone is technologically proficient. To be honest, when people have a good time, they are more likely to make poor decisions. Putting that video on Instagram Live was simply a stupid decision. But at the very least, the former Celtics star recognizes that he was wrong.
Although the video resulted in his termination from ESPN, Pierce has kept out of trouble since then. I mean, he wasn’t flashing firearms or using strong drugs in his video. As a result, many people do not mind Pierce’s video. But it’s still fun to make fun of him every now and then. Having said that, it’s unlikely that Paul Pierce will appear on Instagram Live anytime soon.
