The Baltimore Ravens and head coach John Harbaugh announced coaching staff additions on Monday, with four new coaches joining the team in Charm City in 2024.

Mark LeLeone has been appointed as the inside linebackers coach, Dennis Johnson will take over the defensive line, Doug Mallory will train the defensive backs, and Travelle Wharton has been hired as an assistant offensive line coach.

Harbaugh and new defensive coordinator Zach Orr had to fill three defensive staff positions after Anthony Weaver left to become Miami’s defensive coordinator, Dennard Wilson left to become Tennessee’s defensive coordinator, and Mike Devlin joined the Los Angeles Chargers organization.

DeLeone has 17 years of coaching experience in college and the NFL, most recently serving as a defensive analyst for the Kansas Jayhawks. He’s also had stints with the Lions, Bears, Chiefs, and Jets.

“Mark comes from a true football family and understands the value of developing strong relationships with players,” Harbaugh said. “Throughout his tenure, he has proven to be successful in developing young linebackers into great NFL defenders, as evidenced by his past and connection with Roquan Smith in Chicago. We’re delighted about Mark’s contributions at such an important moment in our franchise’s history.”

Johnson has spent the last 12 years in college, most recently with the Baylor Bears, and previously at LSU and Northwestern State.

“Dennis has a tremendous track record of developing defenders at the collegiate level, and his units’ high energy and consistent technique have always stood out,” Harbaugh said in a press release. “As both a player and a coach, he has helped his teams reach championship levels. We believe that his enthusiasm, knowledge, and expertise make him an excellent complement to our coaching staff.”

Mallory is a seasoned coaching veteran with 30 years of experience. He most recently served on the Michigan Wolverines’ national championship defensive staff. He previously worked for the Falcons, Indiana, New Mexico, LSU, Oklahoma State, Maryland, and Western Kentucky as an assistant on Jack Harbaugh’s staff.

“Doug has made an impact at every level of his extensive coaching career,” Harbaugh said in a statement. “He has helped numerous players and systems achieve new heights. Working alongside Chris Hewitt, our defensive backs will benefit significantly from Doug’s breadth of knowledge and experience, as well as his ability to communicate, relate, and teach.”

Wharton comes to Baltimore from Washington, where he was an offensive line coach for the previous six seasons. Prior to that, he played nine seasons for Carolina.

“Travelle is able to connect with today’s players from a unique perspective of having played in the modern game,” Harbaugh said in a press release. “Beyond that intangible, his intelligence and detail-oriented approach have instilled fundamentally sound habits in every offensive line he’s worked with.” Travelle is an excellent addition to Joe D’Alessandris, and we are enthusiastic about the influence he will have on our team.”
