The South Carolina Gamecocks learned on Tuesday that former Auburn Tigers quarterback Robbie Ashford will play for the team.

South Carolina has used the quarterback transfer portal before and appears ready to do so again.
The Gamecocks have learned that former Auburn quarterback Robbie Ashford will be moving on from one SEC program to the next.
Ashford announced his commitment to South Carolina on Tuesday.
The former Auburn quarterback, who previously played at the University of Oregon, announced his intentions to transfer to South Carolina online.
Ashford made the announcement on the website X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Gamefowl country, whatever it takes, let’s do it,” Ashford posted.

Ashford played two seasons at Auburn before deciding to transfer.
In 2022, he threw a career-high 250 pass attempts, completing 49.
2 percent for 1,613 yards, seven touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
Last season, he completed 51.
9 percent of 27 passes for 145 yards, two touchdowns, and two picks in limited action.
This will be Ashford’s fifth season playing major college football.
2022 at Auburn was his most eventful season to date, with above-average play.
He will still have a lot of work to do.
From South Carolina’s perspective, having a quarterback with playing experience can only be seen as a positive.
South Carolina, as always, will have a lot of work to do next season in the SEC.
More and more teams are participating, and rival Georgia remains a powerhouse.
Let’s see how they turn out and if Ashford makes an impact.
